Beyond Bureaucracy is a one-day conference bringing together academics, industry leaders, policymakers, and frontline practitioners to explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping the criminal justice system.

This event is designed to showcase some of the current best practice in how AI is already being implemented across policing, law, and justice, while also providing space to confront the challenges - ethical, practical, and operational.

We welcome abstracts that address (but are not limited to):

  • Real-world applications of AI in criminal justice

  • Victim-centred innovations and trauma-informed technologies

  • Ethical and legal implications of AI decision-making

  • Data quality, interoperability, and infrastructure challenges

  • Case studies from policing, courts, corrections, or community justice

  • Critical perspectives on using AI e.g., bias, accountability, and transparency
