The ESRC funded Rehabilitating Probation project (2022-2025) has been working to capture the consequences and experiences of the 2021 unification of probation services in England and Wales, recording the impact of reform at local, regional and national levels and from a variety of perspectives including probation staff, senior managers, policy makers, people with lived experience of probation supervision, and external stakeholders. In answering the question ‘has probation been rehabilitated?’ we will draw on data generated from 340 interviews conducted in sweeps of fieldwork activity in each of the three years of the project to explore how successfully the unified service has sought to (re)build culture, identity, and legitimacy.
There will be time for questions and discussion.
This event will be on Teams and is accessible to all at no charge - although we would like you to join the Probation Institute to support our work.
