Launching a young adult (18-25-year-olds) probation Hub toolkit
We are very pleased to join in launching the ‘Young Adult Probation Toolkit’ today October 1st at our Research Event at 12.30pm.
“The ‘Young Adult Probation Toolkit’ launched 1st October 2026 (available here- https://doi.org/10.60528/368x23) has emerged out of the Newham ‘Youth to Adulthood’ (Y2A) Probation Hub evaluation https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/process-evaluation-of-the-newham-y2a-hub.
“The Y2A Hub was a co-located, multi-agency partnership linking young adults on probation into support services most closely aligned to the difficulties they face (i.e. mental health & well-being, mentoring, employment & training, speech & language communication among others). Key findings showed deeper engagement and positive outcomes.
“The toolkit is an HMPPS co-produced, practice-facing document that distils key messages and uses infographics as a step-by-step guide on ‘how to set up a hub’ or tailored services. It is aimed at probation area managers, leaders and professional practice staff teams across England & Wales, or in other jurisdictions, as well as partner agencies whose work intersects with young adult probation. These are the police, courts, prisons, Youth Offending Services, statutory health and safeguarding services, leaving care teams, women's services, and third-sector organisations. It offers transferrable learning with the potential for further and wider development and can contribute to further strengthening probation practice and support to the young adult cohort.”
