Adrian Smith

Probation Consultant & former senior manager

Passionate about the probation service and fiercely proud of its achievements, Adrian served in Kent, Sussex, London and the Office for Criminal Justice Reform in a career spanning 35 years.

His career highlights include setting up Kent’s highly successful ‘Pier Group’ for sexual offenders; ‘inventing’ Specific Sentence Reports (SSRs), which were eventually rolled out throughout England and Wales; developing the ‘LEARN’ programme for audit and quality control; and overseeing the development of the country’s first community-based Councils for service users, ensuring their implementation across the whole of London.

Now operating in a consultancy/freelance role, he intends to continue to contribute to the probation world and welcomes the opportunity to play an important part in the cause through his fellowship role with the Probation Institute.
