Helen Schofield

Chief Executive, Trustee & Probation Institute Fellow

Between 1975 and 1998 Helen was a Probation Officer, and both an Officer and Official of NAPO, responsible for professional practice, training and equalities. Helen played a key role in retaining probation training in higher education in 1997, going on to establish the Community Justice National Training Organisation, which developed the first national occupational standards for probation, victim support and community safety.

In 2002 Helen moved to the National Policing Improvement Agency/College of Policing as Head of Learning and Development until 2014. Helen has worked with the public, voluntary and private sectors to build and enhance professional development across the Justice Sector, and believes passionately in ensuring that practitioners are enabled to deliver professional standards, manage risk, and respect diversity.

Helen is now an independent consultant, director of a small company and a co-opted member of the Probation Institute Board.
