Ella Rabaiotti is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology at Swansea University and a former Senior Probation Officer. She holds an MA in Applied Criminal Justice and Criminology and is in the final stages of her PhD examining Probation Values. She convenes the Wales Probation Development Group (WPDG) at the Welsh Centre for Crime and Social Justice and was responsible for compiling the WPDG publication ‘Towards a Devolved Probation Service in Wales’ which has supported policy thinking on justice devolution. As an expert in multi-agency working in Wales, Ella established and continues to work with the Wales Safer Communities Network, as well as contributing to several influential all Wales research and professional development groups, including the Welsh Government Justice Academic Advisory Group.
She is also a researcher at the Wales Institute of Social Economic Research and Data examining the development of ‘warm hubs’ in Wales, as part of an ESRC-funded project ‘People, Places and the Public Sphere’. Her broader research interests include probation policy and practice, professionalism and values, devolved and community-based working, and inclusion health.
